Celebrating Community Manager Appreciation Day with Meetup.

I went to the Community Managers’ Meetup last night and the energy and the turnout was so inspiring! I’ve been watching video interviews of Scott Heiferman, Founder and CEO of Meetup, and I wanted to share a quote from Scott’s interview with Andrew Ran Wong, Founder of NY Entrepreneurs Business Network:

A community is different than an audience. A community is something where people are bringing themselves into it, taking some ownership in it, and actually making a commitment. Don’t be afraid to ask for some kind of commitment. People want to believe in something, to belong to something.

People will be excited to be a part of something great. Enlist them to make it great…What happens when people meetup? Amazing things.
